This programme follows renowned author Sir Terry Pratchett on his journey to explore the issues and effects of assisted dying. Having recently been diagnosed with Altziemers disease, Sir Pratchett considers his own assisted death by following the last few days of two peoples lives, as well as looking at other critically ill patients desicions to spend their days in a hospice.
Choosing to die proposes many different ethical questions. Is it right that we should assist someone terminally ill to end thier life? Who gives us the right to die when we choose?
The BBC’s position on this issue – particularly Sir Pratchetts – is pro assisted dying, but as a piece of film posing questions and making us aware of the other options out there, however upsetting, is definately worth the watch.
